Important Notes for HomeKit Users Updating to Matter:
- Updating device firmware to Version 2.1.0 or later (i.e. Matter firmware) will remove your device’s connection to HomeKit and your device(s) will need to be re-added to the Apple Home app using the Matter QR pairing code.
- If your HomeKit devices have not been added to a My Leviton account, in order to participate in the Matter EAP, your devices must first be enrolled into a My Leviton account.
- See the following article for adding 2nd generation Decora Smart Wi-Fi devices to My Leviton:
Add a 2nd Gen Wi-Fi Decora Smart® Wi-Fi Device to the My Leviton App
- See the following article for adding 2nd generation Decora Smart Wi-Fi devices to My Leviton:
- After adding your device(s) to a My Leviton account and updating the firmware, your device(s) will need to be re-added to the Apple Home app using the Matter QR pairing code.
- Matter has a specific QR code that is used for commissioning. The existing HomeKit QR code that came with the original product can not be used.
- You can access the Matter QR pairing code at any time under Device Settings in the My Leviton app for the respective Matter device.
- For adding Matter enabled Decora Smart Wi-Fi 2nd Gen device to the Apple Home using a photo of the QR Pairing code, see: How Do I Add a Decora Smart Matter Device to the Apple Home App?
- To add Matter accessories to the Apple Home app, an Apple Home Hub such as a HomePod or Apple TV running the latest software, is required
- If you do not have one of the required Apple Home Hubs, do not update the firmware in your device(s) to Version 2.1.0 or later, as Matter devices cannot be used with the Apple Home app without a supported Apple Home Hub.
- After updating to Version 2.1.0 or later (i.e. Matter firmware), in order to add a device to the Home app, the device needs to be in enrollment mode prior to scanning the QR code. To put the device into enrollment mode, press and hold the top of the rocker/button for 7 seconds (until the LED turns amber) and then release. When you release, wait for the LED to begin flashing green. The device is in enrollment mode with the LED is flashing green.
- When adding Matter enabled Decora Smart Wi-Fi 2nd Gen devices to the Apple Home app, the devices are automatically added on the Wi-Fi network that the phone is currently connected to. If the phone is on a different Wi-Fi network than the Apple Home Hub, it will not work.
When pairing Matter devices or have Matter devices paired to the Apple Home App, we recommend that you update your iOS and tvOS (Home Hub) devices to Version 16.5 or later.
