These instructions are for adding a Decora Smart Gen1 product. These products begin with the part number DW. For more information please consult the article How Do I Know If My Decora Smart® Wi-Fi is 1st or 2nd Generation. If your part number starts with D2 please switch to the article Add a Decora Smart® 2nd Gen Wi-Fi Device to the My Leviton App.
Preparing to Add a Device:
When no devices are currently enrolled, choose the Add a Device Now option.
Note: If a device has been previously enrolled, it will be shown in the app. Choose the + button in the upper right and select Add Device, and advance to Step 1.
Step 1: Getting Started
Select the type of device that you are attempting to connect. If you have the packaging you can scan the barcode to simplify the process.
If you choose not to scan the bar code and instead choose the device type you may be asked if the device is 1st or 2nd Gen. Choose 1st Gen:
When a product is brand new the LED will be flashing. If the device has been previously installed or if the LED has timed out you can press "I don't see a flashing light" to receive instructions to enter inclusion mode.
Confirm the Wi-Fi device is ready for inclusion with the LED quickly flashing green and press "Yes, let's go!"
Step 2: To communicate to the Internet
The Wi-Fi device must be added to your Wi-Fi network. To accomplish this the app will guide you through the steps for connecting you mobile device to the Wi-Fi device, providing the Wi-Fi network information, and confirming the Wi-Fi device successfully connected to the cloud.
Press Go to my Wi-Fi setting button.
Step 2a:
The app will bring you to your mobile device's Settings screen. Select Wi-Fi.
Step 2b:
Find the Leviton Decora Smart Wi-Fi device in the list of available Wi-Fi networks (it will be listed in the format of Leviton Device-xxx). Select it to connect your mobile device's Wi-Fi to the Leviton Decora Smart device's Wi-Fi network.
Step 2c:
Navigate back to the My Leviton app. Once you've returned, the My Leviton app will automatically discover the Leviton Wi-Fi device.
Step 2d:
Beginning in iOS14 you will be prompted to allow the My Leviton app to communicate to your Leviton device over the local Wi-Fi connection. Choose OK. If you choose 'Don't Allow' refer to the article 'I am Running iOS 14 and When I Try To Enroll a Device The Icon Spins and Will Not Connect'
Step 3:
The app will provide a list of visible wireless networks available to the Leviton Wi-Fi devices. Choose the network with the best signal strength available that you are authorized to join.
Note: If your SSID is hidden it will need to be visible during the enrollment process. Once the Decora Smart Wi-Fi is enrolled the SSID can be re-hidden.
Press Next.
Step 4:
Enter the network password. Please note that passwords are case specific. If you are in a safe location to show your password, press the eye icon to see the text.
Press Continue.
Step 5:
The app passes the Wi-Fi information to the Leviton Wi-Fi device
During the process the LED on the device will indicate the current steps during in the enrollment. If the load is not in the off state when starting, the LED indications below may not be an exact match.
Watch the LED during Step 5. If your device does not successfully connect, move to step 5a.
Successful Wi-Fi connection:
Flashing green slows down to a slower rate:

Step 5a:

In most cases the password is incorrect

The wrong Wi-Fi network may have been chosen or signal strength is poor
If the app is unable to connect:
- Be certain to default the device and return to the flashing green LED
- Hold the LED button or top of the paddle for 14 seconds
- After 7 seconds the LED will turn amber, continue to hold
- After 14 seconds the LED will flash amber/red, release the button
- The device will default and return to the flashing green LED
- Press Restart Setup to start the enrollment process again.
Step 6: Choose the icon and name your device
The Default name for the device will be the name and device identification Leviton-xxxx. Change the name of the device.
Note that you do not need to include the room name in the description.
Once the device is included you will be able to place it in a Room to better organize your devices.

Step 7: Place your device in a room. You can choose from a list of Suggested Room names or create your room. If you do not wish to use rooms you can click on "Do this Later."
Complete:
Your Leviton Wi-Fi device has now successfully connected to your My Leviton App. If you have not setup connections to voice services or IFTTT you can click on a service to receive instructions to add the service to your My Leviton account.
