Most Decora Smart Wi-Fi dimmers are designed to dim LED, CFL and Incandescent lighting loads. These are the most popular types of lighting fixtures and bulbs for residential applications.
Some specialty fixtures require an ELV (Electronic Low-Voltage) dimmer. If your lighting fixture requires ELV control, you have a couple of options:
- Use The Leviton Decora Smart D2ELV. The D2ELV is a reverse phase dimmer out of the box, for smooth control of Electronic Low-Voltage (ELV) lighting loads. It is also compatible with dimmable LED, CFL, and Incandescent lighting loads.
- Add a Leviton PE400 Power Extender. The PE400 can be installed in a 2 gang electrical box and is wired between a Decora Smart Wi-Fi Dimmer and the ELV fixture. The PE400 is designed to accept the output from a traditional (forward phase) dimmer and provide the proper electrical output to drive an ELV load.
Dimming using 0-10V technology uses a 3rd dedicated conductor between the dimmer and lighting load, that carries a 0-10V control signal. For applications which will use a 0-10V controlled fixture, add a Leviton PE300. The PE300 accepts the output from a traditional Leviton dimmer and outputs the 0-10V control to the 0-10V controlled fixture.
