If you are experiencing an issue enrolling your Decora Smart Wi-Fi device it is recommended to start with the article "I Can't Connect my Device to my Wi-Fi Network."
With the DWVAA an issue was discovered that was corrected in firmware 1.0.0.70. If a DWVAA has earlier firmware it may not be able to connect to a network if the DWVAA it is able to discover two Wi-Fi networks with similar SSIDs that share the same base characters. An example may be a home with SSIDs "OurHome" and "OurHome5". The DWVAA will not be able to connect to the shorter SSID. In this case, the DWVAA is only able to connect to 2.4G Wi-Fi networks so it would not be able to connect to OurHome because it is the shorter of the two SSIDs or OurHome5 because it is a 5G Wi-Fi network.
There are 2 solutions:
- Temporarily turn off the Wi-Fi networks with the similar name and only leave the desired 2.4G network for the DWVAA to connect. Once connected, update the DWVAA firmware to the latest version. Turn on all Wi-Fi networks
- If the longer named network is 2.4G, connect to the network and update the firmware. Once the firmware has been updated you can remove the VAA and reenroll.
- Remove your DWVAA from your My Leviton app
- Factory reset your DWVAA
- Log out of your Amazon app
- Enroll your DWVAA
A second issue discovered with the DWVAA is accidental Bluetooth pairing can interfere with the enrollment process. If you have reviewed all of the traditional Wi-Fi enrollment steps, shut down the My Leviton App and browse to Bluetooth settings:
The LDV_xxxx device SHOULD NOT appear in the Bluetooth device list as either connected or not connected. If a LDV_xxxx device appears in the list, turn Bluetooth off and turn it back on. Click the blue information icon to the right of the LDV_xxxx device. In the settings choose 'Forget This Device'. Launch the My Leviton app and restart the Enroll your DWVAA process.
