The following are instructions for reconfiguring the wireless settings for 2nd Gen Decora Smart® Wi-Fi products. These products begin with the part number D2. If your product part model number starts with DW, please refer to the article How do I Reconfigure the Wireless Settings for 1st Gen Decora Smart® Wi-Fi Products?
The Reconfigure Wireless option allows a device to join a new wireless network while retaining all of the device information. This is helpful when configuring a device to connect to a Wi-Fi network with a different SSID and/or Wi-Fi password.
Reconfigure Wireless
To reconfigure the wireless settings (SSID and/or Wi-Fi password) on an existing 2nd Gen Decora Smart Wi-Fi device, place the device into enrollment mode:
- Hold the top of the rocker or button for 7 seconds
-
After the first 7 seconds, the LED will turn amber, release the button
- Wait for the LED to begin flashing green
Locate the device card on the My Leviton Dashboard screen or the Devices screen, and press the
3 dots [⋮].
Select Device Settings.
Select Reconfigure Wireless and then press Yes, let's go.
The app will connect to the Decora Smart Wi-Fi device over Bluetooth.
Note, if you have any issues connecting during this step, please check if Bluetooth on your mobile device is connected to another product such as a Bluetooth headset or watch. If Bluetooth is being used, please disconnect from the products and try again.
Select the 2nd Gen Leviton device from the list and then select Next.
The app will provide a list of Wi-Fi networks available to the Decora Smart device. Choose the network (SSID) to join.
Note: If your SSID is hidden, it will need to be visible during the enrollment process. Once the Decora Smart is enrolled, the SSID can be re-hidden.
Press Next.
Enter the Wi-Fi password for the Wi-Fi network that you selected.
Note, passwords are case specific. If you are in a safe location to show your password, press the eye icon to see the password that you entered.
Press Next.
The My Leviton app then passes the Wi-Fi credentials to the Decora Smart device.
Once the LED stops flashing green, the device has successfully connected to the Wi-Fi network and the Internet. Advance to Congratulations!
If Your Device is Unable to Connect:
The most common connection issue is caused by the password being incorrectly entered. When this happens, you will see the following screen.
If the Decora Smart device could not connect to the Wi-Fi network, please check the following:
-
Make sure you entered the password to join the Wi-Fi network that you selected
-
Make sure that all the characters in the password are in the correct case
-
Make sure that is adequate signal strength between the Decora Smart device and your Wi-Fi router or Access Point
If the password is entered correctly, and you are still unable to connect, it is recommended to factory reset the device:
- Be certain to Factory Reset the device as follows:
- Hold the top of the rocker or button for 14 seconds
- After 7 seconds, the LED will turn amber, continue to hold
- After 14 seconds the LED will flash amber/red, release the rocker/button
- The device will reset. Wait for the LED to begin flashing green
- Press Try Again to start the setup process again.
Congratulations!
Your Decora Smart device has now successfully connected to your My Leviton app. If you have not configured a connection to a voice service or IFTTT, you can click on a service to receive instructions for adding the service to your My Leviton account.
Press Finish.
